Dr. Amy Brodsky of The Derm, A Forefront Dermatology company, is pleased to announce Sun Safety Day at Wrigley Field on August 7th at 1:20 as the Cubs take on the White Sox.
Dr. Brodsky has partnered with Loreal, makers of La Roche Posay and Cerave, to distribute 80,000 sunscreen samples along with important sun safety information to attendees at the game.
“This is a great way to reach a lot of people with an important message. We all need to be thinking about sun protection to prevent skin cancer and premature aging, especially when we spend a lot of time outdoors, like at a baseball game!” says Dr. Brodsky.”
Other features of Sun Safety Day at Wrigley Field include a pregame interview with Dr. Brodsky at Marquee Gate and a first pitch thrown by Rick Sutcliffe, former Major League Baseball pitcher with the Cubs, and current broadcaster for ESPN. Rick is also personally invested in the Sun Safety message, having multiple skin cancers diagnosed and removed. Dr. Brodsky, who will join Rick Sutcliffe on the mound for the first pitch and help him lead the 7th inning stretch says:
“Skin cancer is very common, with 1 in 5 Americans getting it in their lifetime. And those who spend more time in the sun, are more at risk. Luckily, like Rick, if patients are diligent with skin checks, it can be caught early and removed before it becomes life threatening.”
Pia Renee, Chicago native and former contestant on NBC’s, The Voice, is set to sign the national anthem.
Beyond the game, Dr. Brodsky and Loreal are working on the national launch of Sun Hero, a program intended to provide early education on safety to children and their caregivers.
“The time to begin sun safety is in childhood. If we establish early habits at this age, we can have a positive impact on skin health for a lifetime,” says Dr. Brodsky, who has been passionate about this cause for her entire career. “Dermatologists are here to help when things go wrong with our skin, but we also want to educate so we can help prevent sun damage in the first place and keep people healthy, especially kids.”
